I am deeply sad in hearing that my friend and colleague, Haiyan has passed away. She is one of the few and down to earth programme managers of the organization. Whenever I have issues, she is always there to help and sort things out. She is truly one of the best managers and one of a kind human being. Her memory lives on. And to her family and her officemates, my sincere condolences. She has now come to a place where she is free and all her good things she has done and accomplished will be remembered….

    Always my dear friend.

It was with deep sorrow to hear that Mrs. Qian passed away. I met her in November 2010 in New York to discuss cooperation in e-governance. She was really cooperative and dedicated to the cooperation of a wide range of organizations in public administration, which impressed me a lot. Her passion will never be forgotten, and her commitment to public administration will be remembered forever.

I would like to extend my sincerest condolence to Mrs. Qian’s family and colleagues.

    Sincerely,

    To the Qian Family,

Haiyan was one of my dearest and closest friends. She was always concerned and helpful to all the staff. The UN will never find another Manager of her caliber and kindness.

Now it’s time for her to rest. We all loved her, but God loved her best.

    With heartfelt sympathy and sadness,

    Connie Reid

Our deepest condolences to the Qian family. Haiyan was the inspiration to many on improving service delivery, lives of citizens and sharing good practices. As a person, she was kind and a lovely soul. In our IsiZulu language in South Africa -‘sithi’- alale ngothula, emndenini balale ngenxeba, baduduzeke (Go well and in peace and the family be comforted in your love and memory).

Although I haven’t worked directly with Ms. Qian, I came to know her via social gathering and I am deeply inspired by her enthusiasm and devotion to her work, colleagues and compatriots. She has set a model for younger generation of Chinese UN staff to follow. On this special heartbroken moment, I would like to share the following videolink with everyone in memory of Ms. Qian, videotaped three years ago and I believe everyone will be moved by her remarkable radiating simile and insightful voices captured then and forever! May her rest in the peace in the heaven!(http://v.ifeng.com/his/201010/939a7403-9a98-42cc-b502-078c74153c1f.shtml).
